A few days ago we had a family dinner to celebrate my mum's birthday. She tends to have three to four favourite restaurants on rotation and is sometimes a bit reluctant to try other places. I think it was my sister who pushed for the idea of having dinner at Gurman, an Croatian restaurant in Belvaux.
I had heard a lot about this restaurant but I had never eaten there. To be honest though, I didn't have any expectations whatsoever but I was blown away by the taste of the food! I had fish skewers (with salmon and prawns) and it was one of the best meals in a long time.
This is their 'makedonski' sauce. They normally serve it with meat dishes but they must have spotted me dipping a chip into the sauce on my sister's plate (such bad table manners, I know) and they offered me this small bowl. One of the yummiest discoveries I have made in a long time.
I ordered a chocolate mousse for dessert and again I was amazed by how good it was. Just wow!
Now I understand what the hype is all about. The food is excellent. I would say that the restaurant is ideal for meat and seafood lovers. The service depends on the waiter, one was super helpful, while the other one was so so.
