Eurovision Gala 2014 in Mondorf (Luxembourg)

On Saturday evening the seventh edition of the Eurovision Gala took place at the Casino in Mondorf. Conchita Wurst, who won Eurovision for Austria earlier this year, should have performed and I had been looking forward to seeing her live but she had to cancel and apologized in a video.

The first part of the event consisted in 16 local singers competing against each other by performing past Eurovision songs (not necessarily songs that won).
During the second part, past Eurovision winners took the stage. Alexander Rybak won for Norway in 2009. He holds the record of the largest number of votes at the contest ever. He is rumoured to be a diva but all I can say is that his stage presence is simply amazing. He is currently working on releasing a song for a DreamWorks production and he told the audience that he is very excited about this.
Next up was Linda Martin who had won the contest for Ireland in 1992. In case you are wondering what the black shadow on the right is: it's the hair of the Luxembourg Minister of Culture. My friend who presented and had organized the event had kindly given me a VIP seat. It was right behind said Minister (who has big hair) and our Deputy Prime Minister who was also present.
The final big act was Loreen who won for Sweden in 2012 with her song 'Euphoria'. At first I wasn't a big fan of her music but now I am warming up to it. She is quite unique and has great style.
Finally, a jury casted votes and selected InĂªs Pinto as the winner of the Eurogala competition. It was really well-deserved because this young lady has an amazing voice and her performance was flawless.
It was a very entertaining night. I would definitely consider attending again. Hopefully Conchita can make it next year. That's what she promised. Wishing you a great week.

  1. This looks like fun! I love watching Eurovision (although I don't watch it live so I get spoiled every year haha).

  2. Aaah what a shame Conchita couldn't make it! Love your look for the evening.
    Hugs xoxo

  3. I've heard of this competition. It must've been fun to see it in person.

  4. I love Loreen voice and style. I am sure Conchita would take the spotlight from all the singers, a pity that he couldn't sing!

  5. Loreen looks gorgeous here :O xoxo

  6. Oh wow - some great snaps - must have been a great event!

  7. Oh, that must have been an interesting event! I would like to see something like this one day too! Conchita is a very interesting person so hope next time she will attend. You look so stylish on the last photo!

I have followed Alexander Rybak since 2009, and this is the first time I have ever seen anyone calling him a diva. Would have been interesting to hear what you base that on, since he is as far from a diva you can ever get :) And the song release for DreamWorks was in spring this year. The song "Into a Fantasy" was on the soundtrack for the animated movie "How to Train Your Dragon 2", on which he also gave the voice to the main character "Hiccup" in the Norwegian version of the movie

    1. Thank you for clarifying!

  9. This looks so much fun! I love your outfit a lot, especially those pumps!
