On Friday Beady Eye (Oasis minus Noel Gallagher) were performing at Rockhal. Oasis are still my favourite band (after all these years) and nothing would have stopped me from attending this gig.
Unfortunately I had missed the support act, DJ Paul Gallagher, who is Liam's and Noel's oldest brother. But in typical Luxembourg fashion, when you arrive five minutes before the main act starts, you still get to be close to the stage. Try this in London. The public is quite reserved, shy (or maybe lack energy and enthusiasm?) and prefers to stand at the back. Maintaining your personal space takes priority.
Beady Eye played songs from their first two albums and two Oasis songs: Wonderwall and Cigarettes and Alcohol.
There were no major incidents. At some point Liam got annoyed at a fan who kept throwing their jacket onto the stage. Other than that, the band played the full concert and even gave one encore. Sadly, they didn't do Live Forever, which they have at other BE gigs.
The reserved crowd. It makes you wonder what great acts think when they visit and they see the motionless Luxembourg crowd. They don't dance, don't get crazy drunk, don't sing and just stand there with arms either crossed or their hands in their pockets. It's embarrassing!
